Soilblocks aplenty

It’s that time of the winter when I have to force myself (with the aid of Melanie) to get out there and start making soil blocks again. Considering that we can’t plant the seed without them, I generally leave myself with no other choice. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been ready to get going again for weeks. It’s more the fact that it was 20 degrees out this morning and didn’t feel very “Ahhhhh it’s springtime again when everything starts to grow.” Instead it was, “Oh, the shovel is frozen into the compost pile, and the peatmoss bale might be the world’s largest plastic wrapped icecube.”
But don’t worry, I made 58 flats in about 4 hours time. With a few coffee breaks inbetween. That’s what I really love about the winter. Coffee breaks.
On another note, I came across a cool farm blog based in Canada. Tiny Farm Blog. Check it out. Mike has a lot of good info to share.
It’s always nice to see another person passionate about farming, being organized about it, and still having time to write about it on the web.
