Hello fellow food eaters,
It really is unbelievable that we’re already at the first week of market tomorrow. We noticed how we were out of practice harvesting today…… harvest took quite a bit longer than it should have. I came in around 8 this evening. Whew! Well don’t worry, this happens every season at the first harvest. It’s a reminder to ourselves that we need to wake up from our winter slumber. We’ve had a fun winter with our new little boy, Demian. He’s not quite ready to drive the tractor yet, but he is working on his first tooth. He and his mom should be at market tomorrow for a bit. Come by and say hi.
So we will have food tomorrow at the Ashland market. We’ll have:
Tat Soi Bunches
Giant Red Mustard Bunches
Loose Carrots (Very Sweet!)
Brassica Florets (These are the shoots from broccoli,cauliflower, and collards that were planted last fall)
Loose Green Kale
Loose Red Russian Kale
Yellow Storage Onions
Besides the Salad Mix, Tat Soi, Baby Bok Choy, and Mustard Greens everything else has been overwintered. Pretty amazing how tough vegetables really are (It got down to 25 degrees here last night) and what a great growing climate we live in.
Once we get our act together (next week) we’ll start featuring vegetables as they come into season and coordinate recipes to go with the vegetables available that week. If you have any other ideas please let us know via email or by leaving a comment on the blog.
