The last farmers’ market of the 2008 season. Whew!
November 17th, 2008 Posted in General RandomnessHere we are at the last market of the season. It’s been a whirl wind of a time, but a great one. We’ve had yet another successful year. Like I say so often to so many people, “People are still eating…” I think I say that a lot because it’s an affirmation that the line of work we’re in here at Blue Fox Farm has meaning, substance, and can somewhat be insulated from sub-prime mortgage messes. (Ok so we are all affected in some way but food is mostly recession proof) That’s not only good for us the farmers, it’s also really good for you-the eaters. You have a foundation (food) that you can always rely on for sustenance. Even if we have to catapult the food over the hill to you we’ll continue growing it for you- all of our faithful eaters. I do believe that everyone should have an idea of how to grow their own food but I also realize that that’s not possible for everyone. We need people keeping busy doing other things that are just as important as food production. So to that I say, “We will continue growing food”.
Ok so that was my little bit I just got worked up over after reading an article online about “The 10 most recession proof jobs.” Agriculture wasn’t mentioned. Oh well.
Here’s what we have at market for the last one:
- Arugula
- Beets
- Braising Mix
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
- Cauliflower
- Carrots
- Chard
- Leeks
- Lettuce
- Onions
- Parsnips
- Parsley
- Potatoes
- Radishes
- Salad Mix
- Spinach
- Winter Squash
- Turnips
So that’s it. We feel that we’re getting better and better with having produce later in the season each year. Hope you’ve enjoyed the fresh food throughout the season. I’ll be posting on the blog probably more often this winter since we actually have some down time. I have a slew of videos from the season that I wanted to get up during the season, but it never happened. Reality struck–> Sleep is more important than being groovy cool web 2.0 guy.

Have a great winter. We’ll be hibernating but if you want to get a hold of us drop an email. We’ll be checking often.
