What’s at Market? Week of October 12th
October 13th, 2008 Posted in General RandomnessHi! Welcome to fall/winter. Well that was quick.
We did indeed hit 25 degrees on Saturday and Sunday night. Peppers- goners, Tomatoes- see ya- actually that’s about all we really lost, and they were on their way out anyway. So it was a cleansing of sorts.
Now the great part is all the fall crops get sweeter due to the cold nights. Plants produce sugars to protect themselves- sugars lower the freezing point of water- so they can power through the nights. And we get the benefit of that- tasty sweet veggies.
Ashland Saturday market runs until October 25th
Ashland Tuesday market runs until November 18th
Grants Pass Saturday market runs until the end of November.
We’ll be at the two Ashland markets until the end and the Grants Pass market at least until the end of October if not a couple of weeks in November.
There’s a lot of food to come still from the fields of Blue Fox Farm. Here’s this week’s supply:
- Arugula
- Beets
- Baby Bok Choy
- Braising Mix
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
- Carrots
- Collards
- Garlic
- Kale
- Leeks
- Lettuce
- Onions
- Parsnips !!!!!!!!!!! Love’em
- Parsley
- Shallots
- The last of the Bell and Sweet Peppers…..
- Potatoes
- Radishes
- Salad Mix
- Spinach
- Winter Squash
- Salad Turnips
- Tat Soi

I wish I could come to one of your markets. However Tarkio is a loooong way from you.
I read your lists of veggies and I get hungry.
