What’s at Market? Week of September 21st
September 22nd, 2008 Posted in What's @ Market ?There’s a chance we may get a frost tonight. We covered all the peppers to be safe. Not much else out in the fields will be too affected by it. Most of the veggies left out there that would be affected by the frost are on their way out anyway- cukes, basil, eggplant, beans, etc. But the peppers have just been ripening for a month and there are piles of peppers left, so, we covered them all. I think there’s about 1200 bed feet of peppers. We’ll see what the morning brings.
There are some great new crops this week- Salad Turnips, Radishes, and Broccoli Raab. All crops revisiting from the spring.

The last few days have really felt fall-like. And we sat down and had Kale in our dinner menu for the first time in quite a while. Looking forward to the crisp cool market days of October. Our winter squash should be ready for market soon.
